Elva Nita Bowman, 69, passed away on August 28, 2015. Nita was born on July 20, 1946 to Troy and Evelyn Wilcox in Houston, Texas. She graduated from Jefferson Davis High School and attended Texas Women’s University.
In 1965 she married the love of her life, Mickey Bowman. Their journey together began in Houston, but it would eventually bring them and their children to Colorado in 1976.
In her career, Nita took great pride in helping others achieve their dreams of owning their own home or business whether she was working in the loan department of various local banks or facilitating closings at Colorado Land Title.
Nita had many different interests. She loved the arts whether it be music or painting. She especially loved to sing hymns of praise. She was an amazing seamstress and loved to embroider beautiful cross stitch creations which her family will treasure. Nita also enjoyed researching her family’s genealogy.
Nita loved to laugh and had a quick wit. She was a loyal friend who loved with an open heart, an example to those around her.
She is survived by her daughters, Kim Bowman of Houston, Texas and Sheridan Bowman of Ignacio, Colorado; son Scott Bowman and wife Holly of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; five grandchildren, Angelyn Bowman of Ignacio, Colorado and Michael, Keron, Colter, and Maggie Bowman of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; and numerous nieces and nephews. Nita is preceded in death by her parents, Troy and Evelyn Wilcox; her brother, Curtis Wilcox; and her loving husband, Mickey Bowman.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, September 2, 2015 at 3:00 pm at Piñon Hills Church of Christ in Ignacio. Family graveside services will be held in Texas at a later date.
