Carl Edward "Eddie" Bolding
Carl Edward “Eddie” Bolding, 70, died Sunday, October 6, 2013 at Mercy Regional Medical Center in Durango, Colorado. A memorial service will be Saturday, October 19, 2013 at 10:00 A.M. at Hood Mortuary Chapel. Pastor Joshua Magyar of Mercy Regional Medical Center will be officiating. Cremation will occur at Hood Mortuary Crematory in Durango. Mr. Bolding was born March 7, 1943 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma the son of Everett “Ed” and Elwyn “Vickie” (Klutts) Bolding. He grew up in Oklahoma City and attended schools there. His family moved from Oklahoma to California when he was about 10 years old. He graduated from Polytechnic High School in San Fernando Valley, Calif. And in those younger years, he enjoyed fishing, hunting and was an avid outdoors sports person. He had met and married Janet Brychta in 1960. They divorced and she preceded him in death in 2004. Eddie then lived in Santa Clarita, Calif., and it was here that he met Cheryl McGuire and they were married in Hollywood, Calif., on November 18, 1995. Eddie was an Engineer and Paramedic for the Burbank Fire Department and he retired after 28 years of loyal service. After his fire department career, he and Cheryl moved to the Durango area in 1996. They enjoyed working and remodeling homes together. Eddie had always been a great cook and so while in Durango, he liked to participate in Durango’s local cooking events such as chili cook offs and Chocolate Fantasia. He also volunteered for the Women's Resource Center at the Men Who Cook event and also gave his time with Volunteers of America. He is survived by Cheryl Bolding (spouse) of Durango; David and Donna Bolding (brother and sister-in-law) of Thousand Oaks, Calif.; Robert and Susan Bolding (brother and sister-in-law) of Prescott, Ariz.; Doug and LucyAnn Bolding (son and daughter-in-law) of Rangely, Colo.; Mark and Umparro Bolding (son and daughter-in-law) of Castaic, Calif.; four grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins scattered throughout the Western United States. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to La Plata County Humane Society.
