Nick grew up in Ontario, CA. He left "the land of fruits and nuts" (CA) in the mid 60s and ventured toward the mountains, eventually settling in Durango in the mid 70's. He had a love of cars and an affinity for fixing things. He owned his own automotive shop ("Car Sick? Call Nick!) for several years before opting to work for local dealers. (Hunter Bros, Sellers and Nissan). In 1990's, he started working for the county where he worked until he retired in 2007. He continued to help friends and family with cars (and various other helpful tasks) until the day he died. He loved his kids and grandkids with all his heart and was "a friend to many and an enemy to none."
Nick is survived by his Son: Darin Blackman; Daughters: Nikki Melin, Cora Shubert, Sara Pinkerton; Daughter-in-law: Rebecca Blackman; Sons-in-law: Jeff Melin, Eric Shubert, Joey Pinkerton; Grandchildren: Hannah, Everest, Terran, Laeiliana, Gage, Davin, Sam, and Eily. And too many friends to count. He will be greatly missed by all.
