William Fredrick "Bill" Binger died January 1st, 2015 in Durango. He was 69.
Bill was born March 17th, 1945 in Rocky Ford, CO, to Wilfred and Maxine Binger. He grew up in Rocky Ford and his family moved to Durango in the 1950's. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. While serving, he was in the Honor Guard in Korea, and a heavy artillery specialist in the infantry. He served with the 1st Cavalry and the Big Red One (1st Infantry Division).
He married Karen (Heiden) on October 22, 1968, in Bonners Ferry, Idaho. Bill worked as a "body man" at La Plata Motors, Carroll Motors, and Murphy Motors as well as many other places in Durango.
Bill loved stock car racing but most of all his family.
He is survived by his wife, Karen Binger, Daughters: Stacey and Tracey Binger; siblings: Donna Flora and Dennis Binger, 5 grandsons and one granddaughter.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be held at Hood Mortuary on Wednesday, January 7th from 2 pm-8 pm. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm, January 8th, at Hood Mortuary Chapel, 1261 E. 3rd Avenue, Durango, CO, with Chaplain Earl Caudill officiating. Burial will take place at Greenmount Cemetery, CO.
