Crescence Binet Lyman-Tullin (Michel)
Crescence “Cress” Michel Binet Lyman-Tulin, died on December 10, 2013 from natural causes. She had been residing in Four Corners Health Care Center since January, 2013. She was 88. Crescence was born to Alice and Clarence Michel on January 5, 1925, in Saint Paul, MN. She was the third sibling of five. She was preceded in death by her two older brothers Theodore Michel, and Charles Michel, and her younger brother Jim Michel was killed in the Korean War. Crescence’s sister, Rita Salland, lives in Saint Paul, MN. Crescence is survived by her sons, William H. Binet, James M. Lyman, and her step son, C. Bradley Lyman. She had eight grandchildren which she adored! Crescence was known for her love of family, her sense of humor, her years of teaching school, and her love for adventure and travel. She married William E. Binet and lived in Grand Rapids, MN. After she married C. Arthur Lyman, Crescence and her family ranched on top the Bozeman Pass in Montana. She had a degree in education from Montana State University and advanced degrees from the University of Colorado. She began teaching in the Twin Bridges, MT, elementary school and the Montana Children’s Center. Crescence and her husband, C. Arthur Lyman, moved to Reno, NV, where their son, James Michel Lyman, was born. They moved to Arvada, CO, and settled on Sugarloaf Mountain, west of Boulder, CO. She taught school for the Boulder Valley Public School system as a Remedial Reading Specialist and Special Education teacher in K-12, from 1970 to 1988. She later taught English Writing at Pueblo Community College in Durango, CO from 2009 to 2011. After her husband, C. Arthur Lyman, passed on, Crescence married Leonard Tulin, PhD. They lived in Estes Park, CO. Crescence was loving and caring. She loved to laugh and made everybody’s day brighter with her energy and infectious personality. She had a beautiful voice, loved to sing and often started singing with random people or anyone who happened to be playing an instrument or singing a song. Singing at mass in the Catholic Church was one of her most prized activities! She leaves a legacy of love, laughter and song that will live in our hearts forever. A funeral service will be held at Saint Columba Church on Tuesday, December 17, at 10:00 am. A reception will follow. A graveside service will be held in Boulder, CO at the Green Mountain Cemetery on Friday, December 20, at 11:00 am.
