Bernie was a beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt and "Gran" who always put her family first. Her children and grandchildren meant the world to her, and she always made sure to check in on them. Everyone knew they had to call her when “you got there”. Bernie was known for her strength, kindness, warmth, and loving nature. Even through difficult times, she always managed to keep a positive outlook and a sense of humor.
Bernie had many hobbies, including cooking, crafting, gardening, and sewing. She was especially skilled at quilting and had a talent for creating beautiful works of art with her hands. Bernie was also an avid online shopper and loved spending time on her computer. One of her favorite places was the “Pumps” at the Dolores river, taking the road her father helped build.
In her career, Bernie worked for many years at the Dolores County School District and later at the Doves Nest, where she took care of children and made a positive impact on their lives.
Bernie is survived by her husband Bryce Capron, brother Floyd Johnson (Evelyn), sister Trudy Fuller, son Rick Hobbs, daughter Sandy Riddell (Bruce), son Shawn Hobbs, daughter Amber Fredricks (Patrick), and 11 grandchildren: RC Jones, Grant Hobbs, Danielle Montgomery, Shelbee Applin, Reilee Hobbs, Nicholas Jones, Colin Hobbs, Cole Hobbs, Kierstin Maycock-Fredricks, Emersyn Fredricks, and Greyson Fredricks. Plus 10 Great grandchildren (two more on the way).
Bernie was preceded in death by her father William (Jim) Johnson, mother Dorothy Johnson, sister Barbara Soper, sister Janet Hall, and grandson Timothy (TC) Hobbs.
As per her wishes, there will be no services for Bernie. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Dove Creek Ambulance District, Dove Creek Volunteer Fire Department, The Doves Nest or a charity of your choosing. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Forever in our memories.
