Obituary for Maureen D. Bennett

Maureen Denise Bennett, 64, died Wednesday, September 19, 2012, at her home in Bayfield. Memorial services will take place on Thursday, September 27, 2012, at 12:00 p.m. at Pine River Cemetery in Bayfield. Burial of ashes will occur at Pine River Cemetery.

Mrs. Bennett was born March 13, 1948, in Los Angeles, Calif., the daughter of John Jefferies and Betty Halverson. She grew up and then attended school in the Washington state area. She attended a one-room school house all the way through high school. After graduation, she was working as a Licensed Vocation Nurse, but then obtained her RN License through the University of Phoenix. She worked at the Los Angeles County Hospital in the Emergency Room for seven years and then transferred and worked for Blue Cross Blue Shield.

In 1989, she met Clint Bennett and they were married that same year in Las Vegas, Nev., on September 4th and they resided in Grenada Hills, Calif. She stopped working due to medical reasons. The couple moved to the Bayfield area and have been there for 13 years. Maureen enjoyed animals of all kinds, but especially enjoyed raising and caring for chickens. She gave all of her chickens’ names and even made “coats” for them to wear! She loved Colorado, reading, watching "The Young and the Restless," and gardening. She was an avid fan of the San Francisco 49ers football team. "Win, suck or lose, I will always be right there with them!"

She is survived by Clint Bennett (spouse) of Bayfield, John Donahue (brother) of Calif., Redbird Walker (half-sister) of Olympia, Wash., numerous nieces and nephews, and many friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents.
