Obituary for
Ian Bennett
Ian Miguel Bennett passed away in Denver, Colorado on June 7, 2015. He was born on December 14, 1977 in Denver.
With Ian’s passing, the Denver Broncos and Colorado Avalanche lost a fan on earth, but gained one in heaven. In addition to spectator sports, Ian enjoyed scuba-diving, skiing, snowboarding, whitewater rafting and canoeing, camping, and Colorado snow. He was passionate about the environment, and especially loved winter. On one December day with a temperature of minus 13 and wind chill factor of minus 31, Ian mused, “Oh December, how I’ve missed you! The early sunsets, the cold, the snow, the frosty breath and my beard freezing from time to time; On a side note, remember back in the day when people used those things called shovels on their sidewalks? Those were the days”.
Making friends wherever he went, Ian was loved and loved people of all ages and from all walks of life. He had a great sense of humor and a disarming personality……. which served him well in his job as a Security professional.
He was also a weapons collector. Though he loved guns and shooting guns, he never wanted to hurt anything. You could often see Ian stepping aside to let a spider pass.
Ian was also passionate about justice. He cared deeply about the environment and animals. Ian admired Batman because he was an ordinary man who fought for justice using extraordinary tools. Like Batman, Ian was always willing to speak up against injustice and also willing to help anyone.
He also loved all things Irish.
In addition to Denver, Colorado, Ian lived in Durango, Colorado, Oxford, Colorado, Glenwood Springs, Colorado, Steamboat Springs, Colorado and Royce City, Texas. He was graduated from South High School, Denver, class of 1996. He also attended Metro State and Arapahoe Community College.
Ian is survived by Marcie Claxton, mother, Bill Bennett, father, Lori Bennett, stepmother, Bill Claxton, stepfather, Hannah Bennett, sister, Annie Trullinger, girlfriend, Thor the cat, and Bruce the fish. He is also survived by his Aunts: Cece Joyner, Victoria Cooper and Deborah Cooper and his cousin, Marcella Munson, as well as numerous cousins in Missouri and California.
