Obituary for Consuelo "Connie" Belles (Navarro)
Consuelo “Connie” Belles, 83, of Durango passed away June 3, 2014.
Mrs. Belles was born in Spelter, West Virginia on August 18, 1930, to the parents Joseph and Consuelo “Cora” Navarro. She graduated from Torrance High School in California. She married Kenneth Belles on June 17, 1950.
Ken and Connie brought their family to Durango in 1976, building their house in Falls Creek. Their first business was Belles Appliance Repair and then transitioned to Belles Lock and Key. Connie was Ken’s partner in running the business.
Connie loved to garden, read and was a prolific artist specializing in oil paintings and pen and ink sketches.
Mrs. Belles is survived by her children Mark Belles of Rowlett, TX; Kathleen Askelson of Indian Hills, CO; sisters Alice Pavesic of Torrance, CA; Juantia Sooter of Buena Vista, CO; four grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 7, 2014 at 2 pm at Hood Mortuary Chapel in Durango, Co. Pastor John Alsdorf will officiate. Burial will follow at Greenmount Cemetery.
