Obituary for Cole F. Behr
Durango resident Cole Fischer Behr died from injuries suffered in a car accident Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2012, on East Animas Road (County Road 250) north of Durango. He was 22.
Mr. Behr was born to Fred and Cindy Behr on June 2, 1990, in San Jose, Calif. His family moved to Durango in 2001. His family has deep roots in the area on his mother’s side, with one ancestor who was born in Rockwood in 1887.
Mr. Behr graduated from Durango High School in 2009.
He enjoyed horseback riding, working out and eating pizza. He also liked Nia dancing, a sensory-based movement practice, listening to music of all types, including country western and rock, and watching football, especially the Denver Broncos. Among his favorite memories were the two Broncos games he was able to attend in person, his family said.
“Cole woke up happy every morning and brought a smile to all he met,” his family said.
Mr. Behr is survived by his father, Fred Behr, of Durango; mother, Cynthia Weber, of Hesperus; sister, Katie Behr, of Seoul, South Korea; and grandmother Myrna Ford of Durango.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 15, 2012, at St. Columba Catholic Church, 1830 East Second Ave. A reception will take place afterward at Iron Horse Pizza, 400 S. Camino del Rio.
