Obituary for Rodney Beans

Rodney Linn Beans, age 57, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 7, 2013. Rodney was born on September 10, 1955, in Seneca, Kansas, to Sarah E. and Stanley Beans. Rodney was married to Karen Beans, until her passing in 2003. They had three children. Rodney was a medic in the Army following graduation from HS; he then attended the University of Alabama, from which he received his degree in Electrical Engineering. Rodney worked on medical equipment for General Electric and was considered one of the best trouble-shooters in the country. He retired from GE in 2006. Camping, fishing, and handy-man work were his idea of “fun.” Rodney could fix anything that needed to be done. He was very involved in his church, Durango Christian Church, and volunteered many hours as a Deacon at the church; in addition, he worked many days at the Four Corners Christian Camp to ensure a safe and trouble-free environment existed for the camp kids. Survivors include his wife, Roxanne Beans and son, Samuel Beans, of Durango; son, Shane Beans of Parker, CO; daughter, Sarah Beans of Rio Rancho, NM; brothers, Yandell Beans of Durango, CO, and Ronnie Beans of Crane Hill, AL; sister, Marjorie Weeks of Huntsville, AL and many nieces, nephews and friends. Services will be held at Durango Christian Church on Friday, Feb. 15, 2013, at 10:00 a.m. A graveside burial will take place on Tues., Feb. 19, at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Decatur, Alabama. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Durango Christian Church, 255 E. 11th St., Durango, CO 81301 or the Four Corners Christian Camp, 14065 Road 37, Mancos, CO 81328.
