Obituary Notice for Ursula M. Barry
Ursula M. Barry, 80, died Sunday, January 08, 2012 in her home in Durango, Colorado. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, January 13, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Father Joseph Gallegos C.R. will be officiating. Burial of cremated remains will follow at Greenmount Cemetery.
Mrs. Barry was born April 16, 1931 in Durango, Colorado the daughter of Joe and Delphinia Valdez. Ursula was married in 1955 in Aztec, NM, to Rudolph Barry, the marriage later ended in divorce.
Ursula worked many places in town. She was most proud of being hired as the first female custodian at Fort Lewis College in in 1969. She retired from Fort Lewis in 1991 after 22 proud years of service.
Ursula enjoyed raising her family and was particularly proud that she accomplished one of her own goals in life – owning her own home! She worked hard to accomplish that goal. She also enjoyed shopping and caring for her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
She is survived by two daughters: Carolyn Shubert (Carolyn’s Husband, Ken) and Edie Barry of Durango, three Grandchildren: Kimberly Davis, Kristen Evans and Corey Shubert; four great-grandchildren: Jazmyne Davis, Zaxton Davis, Jayden Evans, and Jillian Evans; two siblings: Cruz Valdez of Los Angeles, California, and Mercy Cates of Billings, Montana; and her former spouse, Rudolph Barry of
Durango.
