Obituary for David Lee Bardin

David Lee Bardin, 81, died Friday, June 21, 2013, at home in Durango, Colo. Visitation will be held at Hood Mortuary on Tuesday from 5:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. A graveside service will be Wednesday, June 26, 2013, at 2:00 p.m. at Greenmount Cemetery. Guy Orbison and Bill Ball will be officiating. Dave will receive full military honors. Mr. Bardin was born March 10, 1932, in Burleson, Texas, the son of Joseph and Clara Bardin. He grew up in Burleson and graduate from Odell High School in Odell, Tex. After High School he married his high school sweetheart, Patsy Green, on August 9, 1952. He served in the Army during the Korean War for two years. He enrolled in Midwestern University at Wichita Falls and then Texas Tech in Lubbock and obtained his master’s degree and teaching and administration credentials. He taught school and FFA in Spade, Texas. The family moved to Mundy, Tx (he was a principal at a Jr. High), then to Ontario, Calif., and was a principal in Upland, Calif., for 32 years. He retired in 1989 and he and Pat moved to Durango. All the while he was teaching, Dave was a part time minister, teaching at prisons and nursing homes. He was an elder at the Pomona California Church of Christ for 17 years. He passionately raised funds and assisted the mission in Tijuana, Mex. He and Pat loved to travel coast to coast. Camping hiking and traveling were their favorite activities. Most of all, Dave loved his family and spending time together at different reunion spots. He is survived by his wife Patsy of Durango, Daughter, LaGay Humbert of Durango, 2 grandsons, Brandon Best of Durango and Kurtis (Angel) Bardin of Yucaipa, Calif., 2 great-granddaughters: Trinity and Dakota. He was preceded in death by a son, David Leslie Bardin at 41 years old. In lieu of flowers, please send contributions to Hospice of Mercy.
