Beatrice Leilani Baker
Beatrice Leilani Baker, 65, died Saturday, March 15, 2014 in Hesperus, Colorado. Cremation will occur at Hood Mortuary Crematory in Durango. A gathering for friends and family will be held at the V.F.W. Post on Saturday, March 22, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in the downstairs gathering area. Mrs. Baker was born February 7, 1949 in Hilo, Hawaii the daughter of Samuel and Katherine Miller. Known as “Bea” to friends and family, she was very active and giving of her time and skills to the ladies' auxiliaries of the V.F.W., American Legion and the Emblem Club of the Elks. Bea worked as a caregiver, housekeeper, bartender, nightclub bouncer, storekeeper and dancing instructor. She enjoyed dancing, cooking, karaoke, bingo and poker whenever she could. Her beautiful smile was infectious, lightening everyone's mood where ever she was. She never learned how to make an enemy. Mike Goodwin companion and lover of 20 years will forevermore grieve her passing.
