James Atteridg

April 29, 1961 — August 22, 2015

James (Jamie) Andrew Atteridg passed away unexpectedly August 22, 2015 at the age of 54. Jamie was born to Louise (Van Nederynen) and Paul Atteridg, in Glenridge, New Jersey, April 29, 1961.
Jamie had a unique way of touching and brightening the lives of so many. He was kind, loving, worldly, honest, wise, hilarious, and utterly unlike anyone else. Jamie loved the mountains, the river, and the great outdoors. His love of music (Greatful Dead and Zappa) drew him to his guitar and many concerts with his friends. His hospitality and culinary knowledge were appreciated by many. He was very compassionate to those less fortunate. He loved his family and friends and his dogs Guantes, Tara, Hank, and Ace. Jamie was also known for his gregarious sense of humor, being a prankster and his infectious laugh. He lived to laugh and make others laugh and he championed a simple life.
Jamie graduated from Colorado Timberline Academy (CTA), Durango, CO in 1981 and Colorado Mountain College, Glenwood Springs, CO. He was the owner of J&H Window Cleaning, and a dedicated chef at CTA.
Jamie was preceded in death by his brother Johan and his father Paul. Survivors include his mother Louise Atteridg, sisters Ellen Atteridg Watkins, Sue Atteridg Izard (Lonnie), Barbara Atteridg Robin (Jon), and brother Ted Atteridg, numerous nieces and nephews and life partner Melissa Jones.
A Celebration of Life for Jamie Atteridg will be at 11 am on Saturday, September 12, 2015 at Colorado Timberline Academy: 454 Academy Drive, Durango, CO 81301, with a reception to follow at CTA. For those who have asked, Jamie was not a "flower" type of person, so they are setting up a memorial fund in his name at CTA (Colorado Timberline Academy) to place a memorial on campus. In lieu of flowers, please mails checks to the above address with "James Atteridg Memorial" in the memo and mail them to the attention of Dan Coey, at Colorado Timber Academy's address.
