Obituary for
Dean Charles Aspromonte
Dean Aspromonte passed away, suddenly, at his home in Durango on August 31, 2013, due to natural causes. He was born to Charles and Grace Aspromonte on July 9, 1939. He attended grade school, junior high and high school in Durango. After graduation, Dean joined the US Army and he served in Germany. While overseas, he was able visit Italy and meet his mother’s family. After serving 3 years, he moved to Greeley where he attended college for a year. He moved back to Durango and took a job with Turner Industrial Bank. He married Carolyn Rockett in 1964, at Sacred Heart in Durango. They had 2 children, Gina and Dean Jr. In 1966, Dean graduated from Fort Lewis with an associate’s degree in business. They moved to Albuquerque in 1968 where Dean had his own insurance company. They moved back to Durango in 1978 to be closer to family. He worked in the insurance industry and volunteered at the Senior Center, helping seniors with insurance claims. He was also a member of Life Underwriters and Civitan Club, which helped handicapped people. He enjoyed helping others and had a great sense of humor. He loved working in the yard, going fishing and travelling. He always looked forward to the next family vacation in Las Vegas, Nevada. Dean found joy, during the last few years, spending time his family and especially his granddaughter. He is survived by his wife Carolyn, of 49 years, son Dean Jr, daughter, Gina, granddaughter Isabella, brother, John Aspromonte, of Aztec, sister, Angie Aspromonte, of Santa Maria, CA and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Grace Aspromonte, brother, Dominic Aspromonte and his sister, Clara Picolli. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, September 28th, from 1pm-3pm at the home of his daughter, Gina, 2804 Oak Drive, Durango. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
