Obituary for
Mary B. Archuleta
Durango resident Mary B. Archuleta died Tuesday, March 13, 2012, at home. She was 77.
Mrs. Archuleta was born March 12, 1935, in Cebolla, N.M., to Narcisso and Maria Evan Trujillo. She was raised in McPhee until her family moved to Durango in 1947. She worked as a housekeeper at Mercy Hospital, Holiday Inn, COD Laundry, and at the Strater Hotel until she retired.
She was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Durango. She enjoyed fishing, camping, and gaming at the casino.
She is preceded in death by her sister, Cora Montoya, on January 8, 2003.
Mrs. Archuleta is survived by her husband, Alfonso Archuleta, of Durango; daughters Ramona and Irene Archuleta of Durango, sons Gilbert Archuleta of Henderson, Nev.; and John Archuleta of Durango; sisters Irene Martinez, Elsie Martinez, and Tina Lucero, and brother, Herald Trujillo, all of Durango, 14 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will take place from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. Thursday, March 15, 2012, at Hood Mortuary Chapel. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Thursday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, March 16, 2012, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with Joseph L. Gallegos as the celebrant. Burial will take place at Greenmount Cemetery.
