Joe V. Archuleta passed away Monday, October 7, 2019, in Durango, surrounded by family.
Joe was born July 3, 1929, to Silviano and Seferina (Madrid) Archuleta in Coraque, NM. He grew up in Canyon Bonito, NM. He married Mary Ruth (Ribera) on March 20, 1950 and the couple moved to Tiffany, CO, where they raised their family, farmed and ranched.
He loved to fish, hunt and camp but his family was most important to him. He was a talented guitar player and had many jam sessions with his brothers. Joe watched wrestling (WWE) and loved all music but mostly country. Grandkids and family were his passion. Joe participated in the "Last Cattle Drive" in the 1980's. He is commemorated in the mural at the Durango Art Center "Recollections".
He is survived by his children: Patsy (Benjamin, Sr.) Vasquez, Florence Maestes, Joe T. (Barbara) Archuleta, Mary Jean Trujillo, Max (Mae) Archuleta, Linda Archuleta, and Mary (John) Serrano; siblings: Fred Archuleta, and Ursula Davies; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. He is preceded in death by his wife, Mary; and several siblings.
Visitation will be Friday, Oct. 11, 2019 from 4-7 pm at Hood Mortuary Chapel and Services will be held Saturday, Oct. 12, 2019 at 10:00 am, also at Hood. Burial will follow at Greenmount Cemetery.
