It is with great sadness that the family of Alfonso Archuleta announces his passing on Saturday, May 18, 2019, at his home surrounded by his daughter, granddaughter and great grandsons, he was 87.
Alfonso was born December 26, 1931 in Lumberton, NM to Antonio and Ramoncita (Martinez) Archuleta. In the early 1950’s Alfonso moved to Colorado and worked as a ranch hand in Pagosa Springs. He met the love of his life, Mary B. Trujillo and they were married September 27, 1954 in Durango. Together they had 5 children, Mary (Ramona), Gilbert, John, Gabriel and Irene Archuleta. They resided here in Durango while raising their family. Alfonso worked at the San Juan Coal Mine, The Sawmill in Durango and retired from the Williams Pipeline (also known as Northwest Pipeline). Alfonso loved to go hunting, camping and fishing, his favorite place was Williams Lake.
Alfonso was proceeded in death by his wife of 58 years Mary B. Archuleta; son Gabriel Archuleta; brother Jose Archuleta, as well as 2 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
Alfonso is survived by his two daughters, Ramona Archuleta and Irene Archuleta, both of Durango; 2 sons, Gilbert (Lana) Archuleta of Henderson, NV and John (Diane) Archuleta of Durango; 13 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchildren; 1 half-sister, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Rosary will be recited at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at 6pm on Thursday, May 23, 2019. A Mass of Christian Burial will at 11am on Friday, May 24, 2019, also a Sacred Heart and burial to follow at Greenmount Cemetery.
