Obituary for
Max J. "Boy" Aragon III
Max Joseph “Boy” Aragon, III, died Saturday, August 4, 2012, in Durango. He was 66.
Max was born and raised in Durango and Ignacio, Colo. He attended school in Durango and played football for Fort Lewis College. He worked as a heavy equipment operator for Burnett Construction and the City of Durango, then worked for Imperial Valley County in Brawley, Calif., where he retired. He was very involved in the Catholic Church, where he was a Grand Knight and Knight of Columbus for many years in Brawley. His obsession with the Denver Broncos infuriated his friends in California, but he was a diehard fan until the end. He loved riding motorcycles with his son, Max, until he passed away three years ago. He enjoyed his friends and meeting new people. He also loved Durango – and the lakes, rivers and the mountains were his home.
He is preceded in death by his father, Max Aragon II, and son Max (Jojo) Aragon.
He is survived by his companion, Margaret Herrera, of Ignacio; mother, Marie Romero Barfell, of Indio, Calif., brother, Eddie D. Aragon, of Vista Center, Calif.; sister, Charlette Zomora, of Denver; daughter Geraldine Aragon of Ignacio; son, Perfecto Aragon of Tucson, Ariz.; daughter Ami Aragon of Los Angeles; ten grandchildren: Stephanie Aragon of Farmington, N.M., Max and Steve Aragon of Phoenix, Abel and Alex Sanchez of Grand Junction, Colo., Dominic, Sheanna, Cheyenne and Leonardo Aragon of Boise, Idaho, and Phoenix, and Michael Randall of Ignacio; six great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
