Obituary for
Robert Louis "Bob" Aprile
Robert (Bob) Louis Aprile, of Durango, Colorado, passed away May 16, 2014. Bob was born July 19, 1956, in Queens, New York. He had lived in the Durango area since 2002, and had visited the area since the 1980s.
Mr. Aprile spent 30 years developing expertise in program and project management for scientific research and development and the construction management industry. He was granted patents related to advanced applications of the critical path scheduling method, and developed a unique "4-dimensional" project management tracking system. Organizations that benefitted from his skills and knowledge in project management include the National Energy Technology Lab, Fermi National Accelerator Lab, North American Emergency Management Institute, Los Alamos National Lab, and many local and regional government and law enforcement agencies.
Bob was also an artist who inspired us with his creative drive and energy. He channeled his artistic energies into design, clay and mixed-media sculpture, wood carving, rock gardens, landscaping, and art collection. He loved the mountains, rivers, and oceans, and spent many happy days skiing, floating, and hiking in the great outdoors.
Mr. Aprile is survived by his three children, Jennifer Aprile, 30, Louis Aprile, 29, and Joseph Aprile, 23, all of Red Oak, Texas; his parents, Louis and Lorraine Aprile of Vero Beach, Florida; and four siblings, Sue Aprile Forlenza of Baiting Hollow, New York, Louis Aprile, Joy Caffrey of Fayetteville, Arkansas, and Jeannie Aprile Rubin, of Fort Pierce, Florida; and eight nieces and four nephews.
Services are scheduled for Thursday, May 22. Visitation will be held at St. Columba Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at 11:00 a.m.
