Annelore Margareta Kockort Miller, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, went to her heavenly home on November 7, 2024, at the age of 92. Born on July 31, 1932, in Münster, Germany, Annelore was the daughter of Fredrick and Heinrich Kockort. She was trained as a tailor, designer, and pattern maker in post-World War II Germany, a skill that would shape much of her life’s work and creativity.
In 1958, Annelore married Leon Miller and relocated to Berkeley, California, where they started their family. Throughout her life, Annelore called many places home, living in Berkeley, California; Laramie, Wyoming; Lancaster, Pennsylvania; Durango, Colorado; and Mancos, Colorado.
After their divorce, she continued to nurture her children and embraced life with resilience and love. Annelore was a devoted mother to her daughters Christina Thomson (Sequim, WA) and Pamela Hall (Cary, NC), and her son Marc Miller (Durango, CO). She was also a proud grandmother to Dustin Miller (Sequim, WA) and Silas Jenkins (Greenville, SC), and great-grandmother to Jadon and Uriah Miller (Sequim, WA). Her family was her greatest joy, and she cherished every moment spent with them.
Known for her warmth, generosity, and unmatched culinary talents, Annelore’s cooking and baking touched many hearts. She was particularly proud of winning First Place for her German Torte Cake at the Durango County Fair. Her love of food was matched only by her passion for giving back to her community. She was an accomplished artist, who worked in multiple mediums including watercolor and oil painting, charcoal drawing, and textile arts. She was a member of many local art associations. Annelore was a dedicated volunteer, teaching art therapy and sharing her artistic talents with Mennonite churches, nursing homes, and shelters for women in need.
Annelore's selflessness and kind spirit made her a beloved figure wherever she went. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know her. Her legacy of love, generosity, and artistry will live on in the hearts of those she touched.
