Jean Allyn

December 6, 1927 — April 12, 2021

Jean M. Allyn passed away April 12, 2021 in Durango, Colorado, from Parkinson’s Disease. She was 93 years old, and is survived by her daughter, Melissa Delio (Ray), granddaughter Steevie, and numerous nieces and nephews. Born in Richmond, California, she is predeceased by her parents and brother, Paul Bicknell. She graduated from Springfield High in Springfield, Oregon, before returning to Richmond where she married Henry Allyn. They built a home and lived many years in Point Richmond, raising their daughter there, before moving to Sonoma, California.

After Henry’s death, Jean moved to Durango, Colorado where she lived several years with her family. After Parkinson’s symptoms intensified, she moved to Sunshine Gardens where she kept a wonderful attitude, made a number of friends and had fun times. Her dining table was known for its laughter and residents lingering long after mealtime!

Jean loved the Lord, studied, and taught by example. She loved our country, spent her life curious, learning, and had an adventurous, young spirit. She was gifted with the ability to make anything beautiful, she spent innumerable hours gardening, making gorgeous flower arrangements for home and for the Sonoma Alliance Church, drawing, painting, renovating, decorating, sewing, and improving or refining most everything she touched.

Trips up and down slides, even water-slides, with her granddaughter were nothing unusual for her despite being in her seventies and eighties. She was generous, kind, and was always ready for an adventure or to lend a hand. Mom, we miss you more than words can say, but are comforted knowing we will see you again!

Psalm 116:15 Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of His saints.
