Patricia Mae "Patsy" Alford
Patricia Mae “Patsy” Alford, 66, died Saturday, June 8, 2013, in Ignacio, Colo. Cremation will occur in Durango and private services will be held at a later date. Patsy was born October 25, 1946, in Wakefield, Mich., the daughter of Charles Eggleston and Mary Blackwell. When she was young, her family moved to Piedra River, Colo., in 1978. She lived in the Arboles and Ignacio area for her entire adult life. She was a member of the Potawatomi Indian Tribe in Hanneville, Mich. She loved the outdoors – camping and fishing. Patsy was also blessed with a unique funny yet sarcastic sense of humor that everyone loved. She had the ability to tell you exactly what she was thinking in a humorous way that will be missed by many. Patsy had an incredible love for animals, especially her dog; in fact her love and care of animals was sometimes even taken as though she loved them more than people. The amount of joy and that she brought to so many was amazing, and the memories that she left behind will continue to pour through her spirit and soul, as she is now watching over us and guiding each one of us. She is survived by her sister: Betty Hoover of Ignacio, niece: Teresa Williams of Keams Canyon, Ariz., niece: Sheryl McManus of Ignacio, nephew: James Hoover of Bayfield, Colo., niece: Janie Hoover of Bayfield, four great-nephews, five great-nieces, and 4 great-great nieces and nephews. Patsy was preceded in death by her parents Charles Eggleston and Mary Blackwell, brothers: Robert and Carl Eggleston, and nephews: Eric and Larry Eggleston.
