Obituary for
Arthur A. Albrecht
Arthur Albrecht died Sunday, October 16, 2011, in Durango, Colo. He was 89.
Mr. Albrecht was born August 2, 1922, in Osborne County, Kansas, son of Henry and Emma Sophia (Pottberg) Albrecht. The family moved to the Animas Valley in Durango April 15, 1924. He enlisted in the military in September 3, 1942, and served in WWII. He was discharged March 10, 1946. He was called in from inactive duty during the Korean War, serving from April 15, 1951, to March 28, 1952, when he was discharged.
He was a man of faith who loved God and all of God’s creation and who cherished his children and grandchildren and their families. He enjoyed the mountains, streams, trees and wildflowers of Colorado, and spent his time exploring the many country roads and trails found in this area.
He is survived by his children Myron David Albrecht and his wife, Carol, of Providence, R.I.; Susan Marie Boeck of Platteville, Colo.; Stephen Greg Albrecht and his wife, Evelyn, of Christoval, Texas; and A. Kent Albrecht and his wife, Vickie, of Durango, Colo.; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to La Plata County 4-H, 2500 Main Ave., Durango, CO 81301.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, October 22, 2011, at Hermosa Cemetery.
