On Friday, November 26, 2021, Margaret Louise Adams, known to all as Peg, passed away quietly in her home in Bayfield, Colorado. She was 89 years old and lived in this beautiful valley for just over 42 years.
She was born to Frank Shropshire and Helen E. Sturm in Douglas, Arizona on May 11, 1932.
Peg graduated from Douglas High School early, and went on to earn her degree as an Administrative Secretary at Woodbury College in Los Angeles, CA. It was there she met the love of her life, Albert F. Adams, known to all as Al. They went on to marry September 7, 1952 and were together for 58 years, until Al's passing. Soon after they were married, they moved to USMC Base, Camp Pendleton, CA. Later, they would settle in a growing town near the Base, Vista. It was the home where they raised their five children and began receiving their growing number of grandchildren. Married to a Marine, she traveled the states and while in 29 Palms, CA, she grew her love for service by helping her church with the youth. Loving and fun, made her the perfect Youth Director for a myriad of kids, including her own. Back home in Vista, she had her hands full with all her children growing and continuing in sports and/or music. Between being a cheerleader for them, school and volunteering, she stayed busy. She would see a need and put her degree to work without knowing it. Peg developed the "Wedding Coordinator" at her church and made many weddings go smoothly. All of her ideas were collected in a book to pass onto the next one to take the position.
In July of 1979, after much planning, she and Al settled in Vallecito, CO. There, the empty nester became active in her church, growing in her faith in Jesus. She served with the Vallecito Service League and with Al, the Republican Party. She was an Election Judge for many years in Vallecito and Bayfield. They moved to Bayfield in 2006 and she volunteered at Pine River Shares and her Synagogue, Joy in the Messiah, affectionately called SHMBE. She spent the last ten years of her life there, learning, loving, serving, being served and of course welcoming all who came through the doors. Peg was strong in her faith in Yeshua - Jesus - and devoted to her husband Al, her children and grandchildren. She was quick witted; she was funny and compassionate and always happy to help.
Peg was preceded in death by her mother, Helen Sturm, her husband, Al Adams and three grandsons, Tony Garippo, Toby Adams and Phillip Garippo.
She is survived by her five children, Deborah Adams (Garippo), Bill and Luann Adams, Katie and Tim Middleton, Carol Cardwell and Pete Cardwell, and Patty and Tom Parker, her grandchildren, Melissa, Michael, Jennifer, Darrell, Dustin, Justin, Joshua, Kira, Laura, Jeremy, Tina, Serenity, Candice, Tiffany and Stephen. Then, there are her great grandchildren, 21 youth and little ones that call her Gigi.
Peg's Celebration of Life will be held at Joy in the Messiah, 442 Wolverine Dr., Bayfield, CO on Sunday, December 5th, 2021 at 11:00 a.m.
