Obituary for
Frank Jess Adams
Frank Jess Adams, 85, former long-time resident of Durango, died Saturday, July 13, 2013, in Farmington, after a long struggle with Parkinson's Disease. Frank, son of Jess and Dorothea Adams, was born April 6, 1928, in Louisville, Ky., and moved to Durango at an early age, graduating from Durango High School. He served in the US Army during the Korean War. His career was primarily devoted to law enforcement, having worked several years for both the Durango Police Department and the La Plata County Sheriff's Office. While at the Sheriff's Office he held several different positions over time. He was the jailer, a deputy, process server, prisoner transporter, and was also the UnderSheriff. He later worked for UPS and SW Film Service. He loved any job that involved driving. At SW Film Service he transported movie films from Durango to Fort Garland and back each night. Frank enjoyed his country music, fishing, cooking, a nice fresh cut lawn, time with family, his loyal companions Pete and Oscar (his dachshunds), and drinking a cold Coors beer. He was a very considerate and caring man, and was highly respected by all who knew him. Even after his mobility was very limited, he would drive to Durango to check on his mother and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Donald Adams, and two grandsons, Scott Folsom and Brandon Bauer. He is survived by his daughters: Dana Horn, of Aztec, N.M.; Ginger Breed, of Durango; Pam Folsom, of Fountain Hills, Ariz.; five grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Services will be held at Hood Mortuary, 1261 E. 3rd Ave., Durango, on Saturday, July 20, 2013, at 10:00 a.m. Graveside services will be held afterwards at the Crestview Cemetery, Elmore's Corner at the intersection of Hwy 160 and Hwy 172, Durango.
