Shirley Marie Reinhardt passed away Thursday, October 4, 2018 in Durango. She was 82 years old.
Shirley was born June 11, 1936 to Fred and Velma Robinson in Durango, CO. She was raised on the family ranch North of Ignacio and was still farming that ranch at the time of her death. After High School, she worked at Turner Insurance in Durango. She met the love of her life, Gilbert, on a blind date and married him on August 15, 1955. Together they had 3 children. Shirley worked for the BIA in Ignacio for 27 years and then retired to ranching full time with her family.
Shirley was an avid 4-H supporter for over 50 years, she was a parent, club leader, served on the state leaders’ counsel (served as state president for 2 terms); she attended yearly Western Regional Leaders’ Forums. She also served on the La Plata County Fair Board for 39 years, where she was building liaison and Bake Goods Superintendent. She was very proud and honored to be selected the first Superintendent of the Year and most recently received the Randy McKee Lifetime Service award. She loved her 4-Hers and was very proud of the small part she played in their success in life. She also served as a member of the SUCAP Board in Ignacio.
She is survived by her son: Daven (Janet) and daughters Joette and Gwynna all of Ignacio; 3 grandchildren & 5 great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews; and her sister: Jackie Robinson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert; parents; and sisters, Joyce Robinson and Verna Horsley.
Services will be held at Hood Mortuary in Durango on Thursday, October 11, 2018 at 11 a.m. with a viewing at 10 a.m. Burial will follow services at Crestview Cemetery.
