Stafford Washington

November 28, 1949 — September 4, 2018

Stafford Bean Washington, longtime resident of Ignacio, passed away on September 4, 2018, at Mercy Hospice House in Durango, after a long battle with kidney disease. He was only 68.

Stafford was born on November 28, 1949 to Walter and Jane Washington in Ignacio, CO. He served in the US Army. He was a police officer for the Southern Ute Indian Tribe for 15 years. He loved his simple life and his son very much.

He is preceded in death by his parents and a sister Sharon Washington Havens.

Stafford is survived by his son, Shane Stafford Washington, his companion and his long time caregiver, Dona Frost, a nephew John Havens and niece Leandra Havens, as well as many extended family and friends. He will be greatly missed.

A service will be held at 11am on Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at Hood Mortuary Chapel, 1261 E. 3rd Avenue, Durango, Colorado.
