WANDA LEE ROGERS GREVE
1942 – 2018
On January 8th, 2018, Wanda Lee Rogers Greve passed into the glory and splendor of her next life. Wanda was born July 30, 1942 in New Orleans, Louisiana to Curtis Charles Rogers and Gladys Lawrence Rogers.
Wanda spent her childhood years in New Orleans with her siblings Gladys Brooks, Ernestine Lowrie and Curtis Rogers Jr. She was very active in her High School politics and represented her school in the Louisiana Girls State. Wanda attended Soule Business School in New Orleans.
Her business career was interrupted when she met and married Gordon M. Greve in New Orleans in 1963. She left her beloved Crescent City that year and adopted the life of a nomad with the first stop in Midland, Texas. Two children (Cathy and Brad), nine moves, and many adventures filled her rich journey. All along the way, the Presbyterian Church and the PEO (a philanthropic organization for women) provided comfort and support. Wanda’s final move was to Durango where she enjoyed her many friends, hosting dinners, hiking, traveling, and her church family at First United Methodist. She also loved the many interactions with her loving grandchildren, Matthew, Andrew, Faith, and Arabella.
Wanda will be remembered as a giving, selfless person. Whenever anyone needed a meal, she was there; whenever anyone needed a helping hand she was there. Wanda always put the needs of others before her own. She was a joyful person and lifted the spirits of everybody she met with an infectious laugh and a smile full of love. One friend called it being “Wanderised”.
Wherever we see acts of kindness, we will feel her spirit.
It is with great sorrow that we see her move on in her journey, but it is with great love that we rejoice in her memory. A celebration of Wanda's life will be held at the First United Methodist Church 2917 Aspen Drive, Durango, CO, on Saturday, January 20, 2018, at 10:30 a.m. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to Hospice of Mercy.
