Henry Krause

April 23, 1942 — February 11, 2016

Henry Fred Krause, 73, passed away on Thursday, February 11, 2016, at home in Durango, Colorado, following a lengthy illness.

Henry was born April 23, 1942, to Alfred Charles (Lefty) Krause and Viola Lydia Sliva Krause in Three Rivers, Texas.

Henry graduated from Three Rivers High School in 1960, where he excelled in football, basketball, baseball, and track. He graduated from Texas Lutheran College where he also excelled in football and baseball. He began teaching and coaching at Ball Junior High School in Seguin in 1966-1967. He was transferred to Seguin High where he was a secondary defensive back coach and head baseball coach from 1967-1979. He became the head golf coach from 1979-1995. He served one year active duty in the Air Force as an Air Evacuation Medic during the Viet Nam War. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Seguin. He enjoyed golfing and taught junior golfers in the summer at Starcke Park Golf Course. He retired in 1999. He and his wife, Mary, later moved to Durango, Colorado, where he enjoyed fishing at Molas Lake with his dog, Fritza.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Alfred and Viola Krause and a sister, Barbara
Krause Johnson.

Henry is survived by, his wife of 48 years, Mary Ruth Pool Krause of Durango; three sons Aaron (Dawn) Krause of Seguin, TX, Jeremy Krause of Durango and Neal (Joanna) Krause of Boston; two brothers Gerald (Sigrid) Krause of Stafford, TX and Kenneth (Janice) Krause of Three Rivers, TX; 4 grandchildren Amelia (Clayton) Allen, Levi Henry Krause, and Bodhi and Milo Krause; and nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A Memorial Celebration for Henry Fred Krause will be held on Saturday, February 27th, at 3 PM, at Starcke Park Golf Course (on the putting green behind the pro shop) in Seguin, Texas.

Memorial donations may be made to Southern Texas PGA Foundation to support junior
