Cheryl DeMarco Mellor

March 19, 1981 — November 17, 2015

Cheryl Patrice DeMarco Mellor passed away peacefully at her home in Bayfield on November 17th, 2015. She was 34 years old.
Cheryl was born March 19th, 1981 in Grand Blanc Michigan to John and Pat DeMarco. The youngest of three children, Cheryl was an active child always involved in sports like water polo, swimming, golf and tennis. She had fond memories of summer days spent at the Warwick Hills Country Club swimming pool and tennis courts, from which many friends and family remember her.
Cheryl attended Central Michigan University where she earned a degree in Recreational Therapy and found a sisterhood in Alpha Sigma Tau Sorority, an organization that she remained dedicated to long after graduation.
Cheryl met her husband, Cody Mellor, in the spring of 2005 and after moving from Salt Lake City, UT to Durango. They wed at Dalton Ranch Golf Club in June 2011. In December 2012 Cheryl and Cody welcomed their daughter Mya into the world, a little girl who immediately stole their hearts. Cheryl was a stay at home mom who dedicated all her time to her daughter and was faithful, loving wife.
Cheryl was best at being genuine, not just to herself but also to her friends and loved ones, and those close to her recall how she was never afraid to speak her mind. She will be remembered for her infectious smile, her unforgettable laugh and the way she could light up a room. An avid crafter, her memory lives on in the artful scrapbooks she made for her family who love and miss her dearly.
Sweet dreams Cher Bear, we love you.
Cheryl is survived by her husband Cody, daughter Mya, mother and father Pat and John DeMarco, sister Alyssa DeMarco (husband Scott Kenyon), brother Craig DeMarco (wife Elizabeth) and nephew Quinn DeMarco.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, November 24th at 11 AM at Hood Mortuary with a reception to follow immediately after.
Memorial donations can be made to the Cheryl DeMarco Memorial Fund at any Alpine Bank location.
