Willis Irvine III

Willis D. Irvine, III, 73, died Monday, October 21, 2013 from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident in Durango. Cremation will occur at Hood Mortuary Crematory in Durango. Mr. Irvine was born June 5, 1940 in Seattle, Washington the son of Willis and Ruth Irvine. He grew up in Seattle and attended schools there. He entered into the Air Force and was stationed in San Antonio. He then lived in the Portland, OR area and was employed as a furniture mover by the Mayflower moving company. He met and married Judi Carroll in Portland. They were married for 27 years. His wife was diagnosed with cancer and Willis was her caregiver along with her daughter. When Judi passed away in 1999, it was shortly thereafter that Willis moved to Colorado. While here, he briefly worked at North City Market in the delicatessen. He enjoyed the mountains, reading and cooking. Willis liked to talk and watch sports, most specifically about NBA basketball. He was never without the companionship of his dog, Willie. Willis cared for many dogs throughout his lifetime. He is survived by Heidy Ashton (step daughter) of San Antonio, TX, Jay Williams (step son) of Washington state, grandchildren: Ryder, Case, Trinity, Shayla, Christopher, and Samantha Jo, and other extended family members.
