Obituary for Julie R. Zweck-Frascht

Durango and Mancos resident Julie Rae Zweck-Frascht died Friday, May 20, 2011, in Durango. She was 46.

Julie was born May 6, 1965, in Denver, Colo., to Gwendolyn and John L. Zweck. She graduated from Erie High School, and earned her associate's degree from North Iowa Community College. She worked in Denver as a governmental affairs assistant for United Airlines. After moving to Durango in 2004, she worked as a customer service representative for Frontier Airlines. She moved with her family to Mancos about a year ago.

Julie was a true nature lover. Her hobbies included hiking, camping, fishing, horseback-riding, and she loved running, both as a hobby and on her high school track team. Her family was her biggest passion.

Her family said, “Julie was beautiful inside and out. She loved her daughters unconditionally and was an incredible single parent and devoted grandmother. Her smile and laugh could light up any room. She loved unconditionally and truly lived a full life in her short time on Earth.”

Julie is preceded in death by her father John L. Zweck and grandparents. She is survived by her mother Gwendolyn George, and stepfather, Stuart George of Durango; daughters, Brandi Frascht of Fort Collins; and Chelsi Frascht of Mancos; sisters Laurie Zweck of Eaton, Colo.; Kathy Zweck of Hope Mills, N.C.; and Shari Rucker of Durango; brother Dan Zweck of Queen Creek, Ariz.; and grandson Rian Frascht of Mancos.

There will be a celebration of life at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 24, 2011, at Hood Mortuary Chapel in Durango, with a reception afterwards. Burial will occur at St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery in Dougherty, Iowa.
